Research interests:
My research focuses on Fe(II)/2-oxoglutarate (2OG) dependent oxygenases and their roles in translation and cellular stress responses. I am currently studying the ribosomal oxygenase OGFOD1 and its hydroxylation of RPS23 at the decoding center, with the aim of understanding how this modification influences translation fidelity and ribosome function. The work combines protein biochemistry, structural approaches, and MS-based assays to characterize enzyme activity, inhibitor interactions, and substrate recognition. In parallel, I am interested in how iron metabolism and ferritin-dependent iron buffering intersect with oxygenase chemistry and hypoxic signaling. These studies aim to clarify how iron- and oxygen-dependent enzymology regulates translational control in mammalian cells.
