Research interests:
I work on hypoxia-sensing enzymes in animals with Dr Stephen Marshall, mainly human Prolyl Hydroxylase Domain enzyme 2 (PHD2). These enzymes are involved in sensing a lack of oxygen in the body, and could be useful targets for treatments to diseases such as anaemia, cancer and stroke. My work consists largely of kinetic assays to gain insight into the important aspects of the mechanism of PHD2.
